International Baroque Festival
The fifth edition of the International Baroque Festival Zutphen will be dedicated to Constantijn Huijgens (1596-1687).
Huijgens, poet, diplomat, musician and art connoisseur, was one of the most versatile figures of the Dutch Golden Age. His many travels throughout Europe brought him into contact with a wealth of art and music. His letters and writings repeatedly express his wonder and enthusiasm for understanding and connecting styles. He was a man who knew how to unite politics and art. In the same spirit, the Baroque Festival aims to build bridges between different musical styles, between music of the past and present, whereby old and contemporary music complement each other, between amateurs and professionals, and between performers and the audience.
