National Park De Hoge Veluwe
Welcome to Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe, the largest national park in the Netherlands! The purple moors, vast forests and sand drifts invite you to explore on foot or on the (free) white bicycles available in the park. Take a look at the Jachthuis Sint Hubertus and enjoy the works of art in the Kröller-Müller Museum with the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world. Keep your eyes open, you might just spot a wild boar, red deer or mouflon.
Arnhem
In the pleasant city of Arnhem you can do plenty of shopping in vintage stores and boutiques, have a bite to eat on the Rijnkade and there are plenty of museums to keep you entertained. Like the Open Air Museum and the Dutch Wine Museum. In and around Arnhem there is also much to discover about the Second World War, in which the city played an important role. Like in the Arnhems Oorlogsmuseum for example. Also take a look at the Eusebiuskerk or walk through Park Sonsbeek, one of the most beautiful parks in the Netherlands. For the little ones, Burgers' Zoo is highly recommended.
Burgers' Zoo
Feel the humid heat in the tropical rainforest and spot its inhabitants among the green leaves or discover the heat like in the Arizona desert and see the vultures hovering above your head. Enchantingly beautiful is also Burgers' Ocean where you see colorful fish swimming. Because Burgers' Zoo consists of several indoor habitats, it is also an ideal zoo for rainy days!
Posbank
The literal and figurative highlight of the Veluwezoom is De Posbank. At 90 metres above sea level, you can enjoy a breathtaking view that reaches as far as the Achterhoek, the IJssel valley and even Germany. Follow the winding paths through the unspoilt Dutch countryside with its purple heaths and beautiful forests, on foot or by bike. Who knows, you might run into deer, wild boar or the Rheden sheep herd. An excellent starting point for your route is Bezoekerscentrum Veluwezoom.
Bronckhorster Brewing Company
Welcome to the Brockhorster Brewing Company. Real beer classics are brewed here as well as new beers. The unique flavors of the beers tell stories about special people and places that all have a connection with the beautiful Achterhoek. You can taste every single one of them on the terrace or Biergarten of the brewery. Cheers!
Open Air Museum Arnhem
In the Open Air Museum you dive into the past for a moment. Step inside a typical Dutch house as it looked years ago, learn how to make paper, go weaving or bake your own bread. This is such a nice museum, especially because children can get to work here themselves.
8 Castles Route
It is one of the most popular and perhaps the oldest bicycle route in the Netherlands. The 8 castles route exists since 1913 and takes you 34 kilometers along the impressive, medieval castles and mansions in the area. From Hackfort Castle to Vorden Castle, the only one in the list that you can also visit inside.
Castle Vorden
In the middle of the forest and meadow landscape of the Achterhoek lies Castle Vorden. The castle dates back at least to 1315 and is one of the few castles that is still inhabited. Castle Vorden is also the best known castle along the 8 castles cycle route and the only one that you can visit. During an audio tour or guided tour, you can see various rooms of the castle with your own eyes. In the vicinity you will find even more walking and cycling routes, including the Pieterpad.
Bronkhorst
In this surprising part of the Achterhoek, in the middle of a landscape full of forests, meadows and water, lies the tiniest town in the Netherlands: Bronkhorst. In the narrow streets with old houses and farms you have the feeling that you step back in time. Also take a look at the Bronckhorster Bierbrouwerij where you can get a tour and taste the traditionally brewed Bronckhorster beer. Close to Bronkhorst is also the village of Hummelo, where the statue of the rock band Normaal is displayed.
Zutphen
The historic city center of Zutphen has ten towers to which it owes its nickname Torenstad. Walk on city walls that, like the old streets, date from the Middle Ages. Eye-catchers are the Walburgis Church and the towers, including the Drogenapstoren and the Powder Tower. Also take a look at the Medieval Broederenkerk and De Librije, a library from 1561. You can grab a drink at the Groenmarkt or Houtmarkt.
Beach club & water skiing course
Glide across the water on the longest cable water ski track in the Netherlands with water skis or a wakeboard. But it's also great to watch all the action with a drink from the terrace of the Beachclub. You can rent all the necessities such as a wetsuit, water skis and life jacket on the spot.
Themepark Het Land van Jan Klaassen
In theme park Het Land van Jan Klaassen you will experience a day full of fantasy and creativity. Children can climb, clamber and slide around in the large outdoor playground and the indoor playground. Of course you will also meet Jan Klaassen and Katrijn in the largest puppet theater in the Netherlands.
Wine trails and wine tasting Achterhoek
Vines thrive on the rolling hills of the Achterhoek. It is therefore one of the largest wine regions in the Netherlands. You can taste the wine at various wine farms. There are cycling routes that take you along different vineyards. You can choose from various wine routes in the vicinity of Doetinchem, Azewijn and Bronckhorst, such as the wine route Keppel-Zelhem-Doetinchem.

Step aboard for an unforgettable ride in the historic steam train. Your adventure starts at the station in Beekbergen and takes you past the picturesque stations of Loenen and Eerbeek, ending in Dieren. Here the train turns around to continue the route in reverse order.
