TOWERS, COURTYARDS, AND HANSEATIC HISTORY
Zutphen
Zutphen is about a 20-minute drive from our park, where the Berkel River flows into the IJssel River. This old Hanseatic city is also known as the “City of Towers,” and one glance at the skyline will tell you why. Walk beneath the 15th-century Drogenap Tower, admire the Berkel Gate spanning the water, and discover the hidden courtyards. In the Walburgis Church, you can admire the “Librije,” the only surviving public chain library in the Netherlands. Afterward, grab a spot on a cozy terrace at the Houtmarkt or Groenmarkt. Tip: You can also enjoy a beautiful bike ride to Zutphen via Bronkhorst along the IJsseldijk.

With a guide, you can view centuries-old books that are still chained here.
Take a walk along the Martinetsingel from the Drogenap Tower to the IJssel River, enjoying a beautiful view of the skyline.
Take a 75-minute boat ride along the Berkel and the city canal. Along the way, the skipper will enthusiastically tell you all about the city.
Step through a small gate and discover quiet courtyards, such as the beautiful Oude Bornhof right in the heart of the city.
